Madness in Scarborough with Fun All Around 360? Extreme Sports Festival 17 ? 19 September 2010

(PRWeb UK) August 25, 2010

Whatever the weather, Scarborough?s seaside will be sizzling with activity this September with an action-packed, fun-filled festival that aims to promote Scarborough as the extreme sports destination of the east coast of Britain. The pretty North Yorkshire seaside town will host the 360? Extreme Sports Festival next month and thrill seekers of all ages and abilities will be encouraged to try their hand at a wide range of extreme sports, including surfing, skating and BMX riding.

The three-day programme, put together by festival organisers Cirrion group, will be part of the official UK Pro Tour and will be a 3 star event attracting the best of national and international surfers including a women?s competition.

Extreme sports first burst onto the scene in the 1990s and have become the fastest-growing sport of the last decade. Fast, risky and outrageous, they demand a high level of physical exertion from competitors and provide spectators with a breathtaking and exhilarating display of talent and physical prowess. The 360? Festival introduces brash and risky new sports as well as older activities done with a high-octane twist.

The festival weekend sees Hairy Bob?s skate park playing host to some of the best the UK has to offer, with a number of competitions, such as Inline Blades, Skating and BMX. Secret Spot will be sponsoring a rock up and have a go competition, with registration on the Friday and Saturday at Hairy Bob?s skate park; all you have to do is rock up and pull off the best trick you have and the winner walks away with a new skateboard.

Organisers are delighted that The Animal Relentless Bike Tour ? Europe?s number one mountain bike freestyle team will be performing over the weekend. The show mixes the incredible skill, control and balance of former World Champion trials rider Martyn Ashton with the spectacular aerial style of two of the world?s most exciting jump riders, Sam Pilgrim and Blake Samson. Prepare to be amazed!

In addition to the more recognisable extreme sports, some lesser-known activities will also form part of the programme of events. Two quirkier elements to the weekend are the extreme crazy golf and extreme ironing competition, proving that the 360? Festival will be fun all around with both activities open to all. In addition, there?s the chance to soak up the spectacle of sea golf and a yacht race during the weekend.

The fun really gets underway with a lively launch party on Friday 17th September, which offers an evening of rocking entertainment and the chance to mingle with competitors and famous faces. Chill out at the beach bar, cocktail hut, hog roast and salad bar, with DJs and live music to suit all tastes.

Saturday 18th sees the competitive element really kick in with qualifying heats and semi-finals taking place in a number of extreme sports. However, the less adventurous among us can simply opt to browse for bargains in the shopping village or even take in an extreme sports movie, shown on an inflatable screen at the 360? Marquee.

On Saturday evening it?s time to dig out your ?baggy trousers? and head for ?the house of fun? to enjoy a sensational concert headlined by one of the UK?s biggest bands, Madness. Suggs and co will be supported by ?the big boys of British rap?, The Stereo MC?s at the Welcome to Yorkshire Open Air Theatre, the largest venue of its kind in Europe.

Although Sunday 19th is the last day of the festival, the momentum is more than maintained as the competitions come to a crescendo with the finals taking place. The culmination of the event will be the Prize Giving Ceremony which will be held in the 360 Marquee between 3.30pm ? 5.00pm.
