Flood Specialists, Inc. Responds to Chicago Water Damage in Pilsen

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 04, 2012

Flood Specialists, Inc. was on location for a Chicago water damage emergency at the intersection of W 21st and S Laflin Streets on December 20th, 2011 where they assisted the Pilsen neighborhood after an 84 year old, 36 inch diameter, 12 foot section of cast iron water feeder main supply pipe burst beneath the courtyard of Benito Juarez high school.

Water was rushing through the city streets in all directions, seeking the low lying basements of the numerous sandwiched residential and commercial structures. One community establishment deeply affected was the neighborhood city council, as they were forced to dispose of water damaged items being stored in their basement for next season?s Fiesta Del Sol holiday celebration.

Traffic had been rerouted around the flooded area as Chicago water department labor crews worked hard to turn off water supply and excavate the surrounding earth to access the broken section, exposing the 3 foot diameter hole which burst open causing the severe damage for local television news crews to broadcast the source of that night?s trouble. The break had been blamed on aging city infrastructure according to water department spokesperson Thomas Powers. The timing was not exactly accommodating for neighborhood residents with the Christmas holiday only days away.

Mario Majewski, a General Manager of Flood Specialists, one of Chicago?s largest disaster restoration companies, said "I sent out several crews and was on location assisting community residents by donating several necessary essentials for this type of disaster such as brooms, mops, face masks, cardboard boxes, rubber boots & gloves, garbage bags and bottled water."

Alderman Danny Solis of the disaster affected 25th ward had been present in the neighborhood handing out city claim forms for flood affected Pilsen businesses and residents. Presently there is no timeline on any financial reimbursement from the city.

Flood Specialists, Inc. is a Chicago Water Damage company who is a leader in their field and one of the largest providers of disaster restoration services. Their facility is able to handle the largest water damage problems and is available 24/7.
